It is printed with environmentally friendly, non-toxic ink and the fabric is soft linen or oekotex cotton. Everything can be machine-washed.
Shibori is an ancient, Japanese way of tie & dye batique. Malene Zapffes collection of cushions, tea & coffee cosies etc. are made in her own modified and contemporary style of Shibori. Malene Zapffe draw and paint by hand, with an easy stroke with brush or black chalk. It gives a sensual structure in the prints. She finds inspiration in patterns, structures, bikes and motifs from Copenhagen and Denmark. Some of the drawings are now a collection of T -shirts with bikes and with a bike ride through Copenhagen on a nice summer day.
